dreaming of being a winner

Last week I had this dream.  It was amazing.  For a few hours (or a few minutes, because Im not sure how long dreams ACTUALLY last), I was rich.  I won assorted prizes.  I dont know why.  I know I won a 10,000 dollar prize, only to be soon followed up with a 600,000,000 dollar one, though after taxes that big one only came to 900,000.  Apparently in my dreams taxes really screw you over.

But…more importantly, I paid off all my bills, put some in savings, and was not extravagant.  I was responsible.  It felt great.  Till I woke up and realized that I was still broke, in debt, and definitely NOT rich.

The reason for this was to segway into this article I read today.  Talk about lucky…and NOT dreaming.  What a fucker.  Granted its not 6,010,000…but, its better than nothing.

pretty standard weekend

marketing myself

It may be a small store, currently with only 15 onesies for sale, all with different patterns, in different sizes, but I’m trying to get people I don’t know to buy my shit.  How do I do that.  Im in PR.  I know how to reach reporters, but thats not what I need.  I need a small enough push that I sell what I make, but not a large enough push where I over work myself and make promises I cant keep.  I mean..i do want a life.

But I get so excited when I see that sale! Even if I sold to a friend I bullied into buying one.

Mom Blogs?

Constantly updating Facebook?

I have created a Facebook friend list that I can blast out to of people with kids.  A few new additions to my friend list from my sorority days.

But I need general “spread the word” help.

I also need new ideas to sew onto my “wunzees”. I want to hear what you would want your kid to wear…if you had one.

Here are some of my newest additions.  A variety for sure…but what would you want?

john and marlena…gone forever?

So growing up I was an avid ABC soap opera fan.  All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital.  Not by choice necessarily but because my mom watched them.  She taped them every day.  On a VHS tape.  Watched them either during days she didnt work, or after work when I was home.  It was a nice escape, but I always felt like I was into them because I had to be.

Then I start Freshman year of college, and all my dorm associates are watching Days of Our Lives in the common room.  A show I had never watched, but I remember the first plot line when I started being around the time that Marlena was possessed my the devil.  Then came lady in a cage.  Then so much more genius.  Kyle from the Real World started acting as Phillip.  Bella changed.  Shawn changed. Patch came back. Vivian left. None of this happened in this order, but I used to keep up for sure.  Even after I moved to SF, I would TIVO it and watch it somewhat regularily.  The great thing with soap operas is that they basically re-play the entire episode from the day before that day…nothing really ever happens.

Anyway long story short…Days of Our Lives for a brief 10 some-odd years was actually pretty important to me.  I even read the updates daily if I missed the episode.

This blog is written with great sadness in news I just found out.  On Wednesday, “Days of Our Lives” announced that it was firing two of the soap’s biggest stars: Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn.  What the eff is Days of Our Lives without John and Marlena?  I guess because of who they are, they require more money…so they got rid of them before they had to get rid of more newbies.  But check out these stats according to They are on the first page of credits, and have both played multiple roles. (ususally different versions of themselves.)

Deidre Hall- Dr. Marlena Evans. (581 episodes, 1976-2008)

Drake Hogestyn- John Black (466 episodes, 1986-2008)

For shame.  Good thing I dont “really” care anymore anyway.  I stopped watching years ago.

Im sure someone will miss you…i mean..they have their own wiki.

so good i had to blog it again…

Seriously….I dont have anything else to say other than you should read this shit.  Its funny.

Below is the complete email conversation that Adelaide man David Thorne claims he had with a utility company chasing payment of an overdue bill.

Because I want to get in on this photo shoot!

This blog has pictures submitted with people taking pictures using their vinyl covers and incorporating themselves into the shot.  Its pretty much genius.  Oh Sleeveface.…another case of “why didn’t I think of that first?”

amazing photography

So Scientific American today posted the winners from their BioScapes Contest.  Basically microscopic photography. This is probably some of the most beautiful shit ive seen.
